Freestyle

The word freestyle is used to describe a sport or other activity where the participant is free to choose a style at will.

Performance

The art of performing, the state of being performed. The way in which someone or something functions.

In my ongoing attempt to achieve all round superior conditioning, I came up with Freestyle Performance. To truly freestyle perform you must master many training techniques, not just one.
There are countless exercises and combinations that can create an unrivalled fitness capacity, so why just stick to one method when there are all these just waiting to be explored?

There are those of us who train and there are those of us who exercise. Those who train are in the pursuit of training excellence, we are hungry for information and we try new things. Those who exercise are happy with their simple programme design, not wanting to explore themselves or their capabilities.

The question is which one are you?

Update - April 2008

If you have visited this website recently and you don’t know any of us here at Freestyle personally, you may have been confused to find your access into the website blocked. The reason for this is that the founder and creator of Freestyle Performance, (Dan Welch) was tragically killed in a car accident in November 2007.

Even if you had never met Dan, you could not have failed to notice the passion that he had for his profession and the development of Freestyle Performance in particular. His boundless energy and enthusiasm for all things Freestyle was infectious and motivating to all who met or trained with him. Whilst there are many Coaches who have the technical knowledge of their profession, very few have that added magical quality that inspires all who come into contact with them. Dan had this added quality in abundance and he is sadly missed by all who knew him.

Just before his untimely death, Dan and I had started to talk about how we could work together to promote Freestyle Strength and Conditioning to the wider audience. We had discussed lots of plans but unfortunately as we are both very similar, any sensible conversation soon moved off on to a tangent and we eventually forgot what we were supposed to be discussing!

Following a number of conversations with Dan’s family it was decided that the work that he started should continue and develop. I am therefore honoured to undertake this task and will be working hard to keep the momentum of Freestyle Performance moving.

Over the coming months you will see new articles and information appearing on this website. I will be working hard to ensure that Freestyle Performance maintains the core values that Dan believed in whilst introducing a few weird and wonderful ideas of my own.

Regards
Andrew Adams
